How to Choose a Home Treadmill

Posted on Nov 07, 2009 under Cardio, Cool, Fitness, fitness equipment | No Comment

Home treadmills are very popular types of training equipment as they give a good workout and are easy to use. Treadmills that are electric powered are the most widely used but also available are human powered treadmills. Cheaper treadmills can be found for approximately $300 although, for good value and to ensure you’re treadmill lasts more than a few months, it would be better if you to purchase a more expensive treadmill.

One advantage of a treadmill at home, of course, is that you won’t need to go out to the gym. You’ll particularly be thankful for this through the winter when it’s cold and dark early. Much nicer to do your exercising in the comfort of your home! A further advantage is that you are able watch some TV or read while you exercise which will prevent you from getting bored.

Considerations When Choosing a Home Treadmill

Even though, as already mentioned, treadmills are available for for as low as $400  they won’t be very good quality and won’t have some of the features of better quality models. You also must look at the features available, including the range of programs because a more extensive choice will give you more flexibility in your workout and can prevent boredom. A heart rate monitor is also a good idea so that you can control the level of cardio training. Though it may be tempting to go for a less expensive treadmill this may be a false economy over the long term because It won’t last very long or give you a good workout. A further thing to think about is the number of people who will use the home treadmill and their weight. If your treadmill will be used by two or more joggers than consider spending around 00 and about 00 – 2000 for two runners.

Also consider the weight limit of the machine you are considering buying. Many manufacturers overemphasize their weight limits so, especially if you are slightly overweight, select a treadmill that has a maximum weight limit than your actual weight. Take into consideration that, even though you only intend to walk on your treadmill, once your fitness improves you may well start to workout a lot more energetically. If you purchased an inexpensive home treadmill you may have to purchase another one to accommodate your enhanced level of fitness! You would be better off buying a good quality home treadmill initially.

Conclusion

Buying a home treadmill may not be as easy as just visiting the mall and picking one. Carefully think about the way you’ll be using it and what extra features you will need. Make certain that you acquire one that will last you and will cope with the type of workouts you’ll be doing.
