5 Straightforward Guidelines to Rocket Your Metabolism

#1 Don’t Skip Breakfast

The morning meal boosts your metabolism and helps to stop eating too much afterward throughout the day.  A cup of coffee doesn’t count – the caffeine and added sugar will offer you a bit of energy and curb your appetite for a little despite the fact that it is guaranteed to back fire into severe hunger and you will be more likely to overeat later on.  Breakfast should consist of complex carbohydrates like whole grain (granola or oatmeal), as well as some protein and fat (low-fat yogurt or milk), will be able to keep your energy levels constant and your cravings under control.

#2 Eat more often

Make the routine of eating every three to four hours or at least four times each day.  Eating often stabilizes blood sugar, while blood sugar drops too low you would like to eat…a lot.  By keeping your blood sugar constant you are able to dominate your desire for food and keep you metabolic rate high.  When a person goes numerous hours without eating your body will counteract by slowing down to save energy…this outcome hurts your weight loss efforts.

#3 Eat protein at each meal

Protein will help to diminish your appetite, it takes more energy and time to assimilate, as a result you are full longer than eating carbohydrates only.  Research shows that eating more protein will be able to help you lose additional weight without decreasing calories.  Try these protein possibilities: turkey on whole wheat; hummus and pita; vegetarian chili; fruit and nuts; or protein snack bars which should contain 12 or more grams of protein.

#4 Hold off on snacking

Many of us grab a snack for quick energy as soon as we are feeling exhausted.  But don’t exchange true hunger with exhaustion.  If you are feeling drained go for a 15-20 minute quick walk.  This will lift your heart rate and provide you a boost of energy.  Follow it up with a generous glass of cold water.  If you are truly hungry find a snack that contains complex carbs and protein like; whole wheat crackers and peanut butter or cheese.

#5 Eat enough for your body’s needs

Consuming too few calories will slow your body’s metabolism the same way not eating often does.  If you plan to lose extra weight, do not cut your calorie consumption too much.  Instead, cut out several of the non-essentials in your diet plan – things  like soda, juice, packaged goods or candy.  Processed meals tend to be extremely high in added fat and empty calories and very low in vitamins, minerals and fiber.
