  • Simply close your eyes and using the tip of your finger, carefully press the outer ends of your eyes. Follow the circular motion, gently massage your eyes.
  • With your eyes still closed, rub your palms energetically to give your palm the warmth, then gently put it in your eyes and massage it in circular motion. Perform this for at least 30 to 90 seconds.

Yamas And Niyamas – Some Basic Concepts

• Satya: Truthfulness

 

Truthfulness of talk, thoughts and acts.

 

Practice: Honesty, having emotions, loving communication, assertiveness, giving constructive suggestions, forgiveness, non-judging, releasing of masks. “The elf of the tongue needs the giant to operate it.” Bapuji

 

Honesty may be used as a weapon, so be careful to be COMPASSIONATE. It’s not about being “right.” Love is higher than truth. “Brutal Honesty” is not truth. If LOVE directs how you use truth then you are exercising Satya. Ahimsa (non-violence) must be practiced with Satya.

• Asteya: Non-Stealing

 

Not coveting, not becoming envious.

 

Practice: use objects the right way, proper time management. Cultivate sense of completeness, self-sufficiency, release cravings.  If you value material items too much, this particular lure will come at you at times.  Release that false value.

 

Should you attain what you want by honest means, you have no worry. If you attain what you want through dishonest means, you live with worry.

 

• Brahmacharya: Moderation, Channeling Emotions, Moderation in each things, self-containment.

 

No overindulgence of thoughts, intellect, conversation or body; moderation on all levels regarding sex, foods, and all aspects of everyday life which includes the natural environment.  [This is the most misunderstood Yama, so I will devote more space interpreting the meaning of this[]~]

 

Practice: not repression, but power over sensuous cravings

 

Principle:  Satisfying our desires for pleasure by means of food, sex, TV along with other hobbies conceals the emptiness inside.  That emptiness is spiritual hunger.  Our soul wants fulfillment.  There are lots of levels of our being, and we usually do not take an alternative approach to satisfaction on each one of these levels.  We usually only view the simplest, surface level requirements -and try to satisfy ourselves on the bodily level.

 

“Brahma” = the Creator “Charya” = instructor or guide  The word Brahmacharya comes from the two words Brahma and acharya or charya (take your own pick). Brahma is actually God as the creator or progenitor, acharya is instructor and charya means wedded to. Thus one could point out brahmacharya means being wedded to Brahma or “to stay connected to Source” as well as to remain continuous with it

 

“This day, I’m reasonable, focused, and complete. I personally use my energy in ways that guide me nearer to my Source. I handle myself and others having respect, knowing the natural Divinity of people.”
